Yes, I was thinking we'd better put that topic on here too. Karen, maybe you could write an opening post about that and then people can put comments on it after that.

I think if someone wants to put a recipe up, they could post it by itself rather than trying to fit it in a comment. Just make sure you put a the recipe name as the title of the post. That way it'll be easy for people to find in the Blog Archive on the right hand side of the site.

I'm glad you clarified that Carrie Sue ... I was wondering if everyone was going to put their health information on there like when they went to the dentist last or how long their colds lasted (just kidding of course!!!) ... hey, I'm on two blogs now ... I'm about to have heart failure

Carrie, I have 2 blogs and I don't know how to post the blogs on my webpage for all to see. How do I invite others to my blog so that they will show up?

If you get to this blog and want to comment on Health and Fitness, click on "Less is More".

There's a temporary problem with the Less is More blog - they think it's a "Spam Blog" and are verifying it's authenticity right now. So, for now, Karen says that this is where info on the getting fit blog will go.

BTW - One thing both Karen and I noticed is that when you eat right you actually eat more food because your metabolism kicks in high gear. It has happened again as we're now into our 5th day of being back on the Body by God food program. We both woke up this morning and said "we have to eat NOW ... we are starved". I remember that happening 2 years ago when we first started on the program. So the key is having healthy foods/snacks available when that happens because it will happen.

Jeff told me this morning that he's going "Cold Turkey" on the coffee. It reminded me of what Yoda said which will now be my new motto, "Do or not do, there is no try."
If you are craving something you know you should not be eating in the afternoon or evening, tell yourself you can have it the next morning after a healthy breakfast, or at lunchtime. Grab something else like nuts or vegetables, and drink a large glass of water. You can do it, one day at a time!!!

I did terrible on this yesterday! I was at church from 8:15 to 12:45 and spent all morning resisting donuts, then avoided the brats and hamburgers at lunch. But what did I do next, went to a 1st Communion party and ate way too much lasagna and cake! I was so mad at myself. Starting over again today... Jeff you're so right about having the right snacks on hand. I need to make that a priority. I think I'd better get to the grocery store tonight, or maybe even on my lunch break.

Also, Karen, I can add a list on this blog of links that we want to have available. If you give me the web address for your other blog, I'll put the link up. As far as us being able to post comments on your other blog, that's according to the settings you have on it for who is allowed to leave comments. Hope that helps.

Keep trying, Carrie ... the first couple days are the hardest to get into a routine but once you figure out how to handle those urges and temptations it gets easier. The key is to know that you WILL get hungry and you WILL have those snacking urges so be prepared for that by having stuff available. You're not trying to give up things but rather incorporating more healthy stuff that will eventually push out your need/desire for the less healthy snacks. Don't give up on snacking but be prepared to snack with stuff that YOU want to snack on rather than what looks good but is not good for you.

I can tell you from experience that my food consumption actually increases when I start on this program because my metabolism kicks into high gear and I NEED to fill my body with food. But that's a good thing to actually eat more, not a bad thing. The body by God motto is "eat like an elephant, look like a gazelle" and it's true. Karen and I will often have 4 decent sized meals a day (2 dinners but no carbs) plus snacking and yet we lose weight/keep it off/feel much healthier and more energetic.

I'm very proud of myself. I've had a hard time getting to the Y in the afternoon/evening so I made myself get up early this morning and go before school. This is quite a feet since I am not much of a morning person. I got up at 4:30 this morning, worked out, and still got to school by 7:00! Let's see if I can do it again tomorrow, though. That will be the true test!

Good for you Cathy! Just take it one day at a time. Doing it once proves it's not impossible. We're proud of you too! Keep up the positive thinking, it helps a lot. Pushing yourself when you don't want to exercise is the hardest, but when you do it you will start feeling better. You'll start seeing the benefits and want to do it more and more. We can all do this together.
Hey Sisters, this Wednesday on your walk, say a birthday prayer for Elijah. :)

I did it. I got up at 4:30 am again! I'm definitely feeling more tired and less energetic than I did yesterday after working out, but I'm glad I made myself go. I haven't seen any results yet in my weight or how my clothes fit, but I can feel a difference in my muscle tone. It will probably just take longer to see results because of my condition, but I'm not giving up!

YAY! Keep it up Kathy! You will start seeing a difference in about 5-10 days. I didn't get a chance to do the Tae Bo on Sat. or Sun., but noticed a big difference in just my flexibility on Monday. Today Jeff joined us in the morning before going to work. He loved it so I think we will purchase a tape for ourselves. It's a low impact workout that works well for the kids and gives us a workout too. Good for getting started. We have to encourage each other to be like energizer bunnies and just keep going and going and going... We can do this.

You can now click on "Less is More" to go directly to my blob, or you can use the one here. My spam has been cleared. Yay! I feel so high tech. I found some good reading on Aritchokes. Go to:
http://www.epicureantable.com/articles/aartichoke.htm I tried one for the first time this week. Very filling. The taste was different but I enjoyed it the more I ate it. I made it with olive oil, garlic cloves, and parmesan cheese then steamed it for about an hour. It was yummy!! I will definitely do that again.:)
